I am having trouble playing compilations on freebox.

I added some of my girlfriends music that are soundtracks and compilations.  Freebox doesn't like to play the compilations for some reason.

The music is in a folder that iTunes creates called compilations

the file structure for the compilations folder is:
Compilations/Album/Song1

Freebox will recognize that the album is there with Artwork, Album Titles, and Song titles but when a song is selected to be played it shows that the song is being played, the counter runs and it acts just like a song is playing but there is no sound.

If I take the songs out of the compilation and make it
Artist/Album/Song1

It plays the music fine and there is no problem.  For some reason i don't get any sound when the songs are in the Compilations/Album/Song1

It will also work if I call rename the Artist to the name of the Compilation Album.
For example she has a compilation called 90's Hits.

Does Not Play In format
Compilations/90's Hits/Song1

Will Play In format
90's Hits/90's Hits/Song1

Where all the artists on the compilation become the album name.

I have no problem with the second format, however she does not like it because you lose the artist and all the artists for the compilation become 90's Hits instead of Nirvana....Etc.

Is there a way I can keep the compilations intact without losing the individual artist for each track?

I figured it out.

The compilations were the last thing I did when I was getting artwork and getting everything organized.

I was just messing around and figured this one out just by trial and error.  Some of the music worked when i broke it from the compilation but didn't work while part of the compilation.  I can't explain this.

Other songs that were part of a compilation still wouldn't play when i broke them apart from the compilation.  So I started playing around with these files and I noticed that they had ID3 Tag version 2.4

I changed them to ID3 Tag version 2.2 and now everything plays as it should as far as i can tell, haven't had a lot more testing time but all the ones that i knew weren't playing all now play fine.

Not sure why changing the tag version matters but it seems to have worked.

It is a limitation of the old engine in V3 it should have worked ok with V4, did you try the V4 demo?
